2022 SERIES REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

BACKGROUND
The Asia-Pacific Marine Turtle Genetic Working Group (APMTGWG) was established in 2020 to bring together marine turtle researchers from across the Asia-Pacific region in order to enhance in-country capacity for marine turtle genetic studies in the region. From January to August 2021, the Working Group held its first series of online workshops, which served to: (1) introduce the working group members to each other, (2) showcase each other’s work and experiences in the region, and (3) share expertise and new techniques with a focus on marine turtle genetics. Participants consisted of researchers working in the East and Southeast Asian regions who has access to marine turtle ecological data, tissue samples, or genetic laboratories. With the support of the European Union and the Swedish Government, the Working Group will hold a second series of online workshops and will invite researchers and stakeholders in the Pacific region who are interested in supporting or initiating marine turtle genetic studies. This is in line with the Working Groups' mission to build and support collaborations throughout the Western Pacific and Asia Region.
